📌 CHBC Scoring Examples

This page shows concrete scoring examples using the CHBC weighted formula. The goal is to make it clear how placement and table size both affect points.

Formula (for reference)

Points = Base Score × ((Entries - Place) / Entries)³

Base Scores:

Key idea: Higher placements earn more, and placements in larger tables are worth more than the same placement in smaller tables.

Example A: 1st is worth much more than 3rd (same table size)

In a 25-entry table:

Placement Calculation Points
1st (25 entries) 3 × (24/25)³ 2.65
2nd (25 entries) 2 × (23/25)³ 1.56
3rd (25 entries) 1 × (22/25)³ 0.68

Takeaway: In the same 25-entry table, 1st (2.65) is about 3.9× a 3rd (0.68).

Example B: 2nd on a big table can beat 1st on a very small table

Result Calculation Points
2nd (25 entries) 2 × (23/25)³ 1.56
1st (4 entries) 3 × (3/4)³ 1.27

Takeaway: A strong finish in a large, competitive table can outscore a win in a very small table.

Example C: Same placement, bigger table = more points

Result Calculation Points
1st (25 entries) 3 × (24/25)³ 2.65
1st (6 entries) 3 × (5/6)³ 1.74

Takeaway: Winning a larger table carries significantly more weight than winning a small table.
